Today.

Today we went to the Sacre Coeur, also known as the Sacred Heart of Paris. It's a GIANT Roman Catholic Church built over a breathtaking view of the city of Paris. The first picture is on the way up the stairs. I'm not sure exactly how many flights we climbed to get to the top, but it was a LOT! I promise, the view is worth it though! I wish they allowed you to take pictures inside, because the art and glass work inside is incredible. It's definitely one of the must-see buildings in Paris.

Nearby is the Mural of Je T'aime. It's just a cute little wall full of "I Love You's". Weirdly enough... We couldn't find it written in English anywhere. Not a must see, but since we were in the neighborhood, it was cool to stop by... It also matched my red coat.

Phantom of the Opera

Our day today was spent walking around the Les Puces flea market trying to find some adorable vintage knick knacks. There are hundreds of little sheds and buildings crammed FULL of random odds and ends. It's basically a bunch of ancient hoarders who make money off of their life of collecting. There are things from books, postcards, vintage silverware sets, watches, jewelry and keys. There was a shop full of doll parts, clock pieces, and empty wine boxes. The possibility of finds here are endless! Next we took the metro to the Palais Garnier opera house. We plan on touring the building in a couple of weeks when Amanda's mom and sister come out to visit, but we couldn't wait to get a preview. Right across the street from the opera, there is the most luxurious mall I have ever seen in my life. Amanda and I toured all four levels and managed to escape with only a couple of adorable nail polishes we got out of a vending machine... yes, they sell nail polish in vending machines out here. After a day full of very few purchases, and a lot of walking around we decided it was time to head back home. Unfortunately, we got very few pictures. Don't worry, we've still got 64 more days to make up for it! Tomorrow is our first day of work at the cake shop, wish us luck!

Le Première

Our first real full day in Paris was very eventful! We live very close to the Notre Dame Cathedral, so naturally it was our first stop. It was incredible! It's astonishing to me that real-life human beings are capable of building something so immaculate without heavy duty machinery. Our true intentions were to stop at the Marchè Bastille. It's one of the many French farmers markets, and it is also incredible (Incredible being the word I would use to describe almost everything we encountered today). There hundreds of different booths with people yelling prices and waving fruit and exotic food in front of your face. We stopped for authentic crepes and made our way to the eiffel tower. Also incredible, if you were wondering. It is also VERY large. Humans climbing the stairs to the top looked like tiny little ants. Also very curious how humans were able to create such an astounding thing. I failed to mention that we took the Metro three different times today. It's like being packed into a metal death trap with a hundred strangers. We were fortunate enough to encounter a Metro performer who rapped to us during our little ride. I didn't know it was possible to rap over Kesha, but the man made it possible. We probably walked 13 miles, but it was well worth it. Enough talk... Here are the pictures!
